TRANSPORT PROTOCOL

FOR ALL SENDERS/RECEIVERS**

**I do not transport for private party adoptions.

PLEASE NOTE THAT I WILL NOT HESITATE TO PUT A TRANSPORT ON HOLD OR CANCEL IT COMPLETELY SHOULD I FIND OUT THAT ANY PROTOCOL HAS BEEN FUDGED OR QUESTIONS ON THE SCREENING HAVE BEEN MISREPRESENTED ~~ THIS GOES FOR NEW RESCUES, OLD RESCUES, ANY RESCUES, WITHOUT EXCEPTION

All Passengers:
1.  Must have been away from a shelter environment for 2 weeks (boarding prior to transport is acceptable).

2.  If going directly to the rescues approved adoptive home, dog must be altered prior to transport, regardless of age.

3.  Any surgery must take place at least 5 days before transport date.

4.  Must receive age appropriate vaccinations (rabies, DA2PPv or similar and Bordetella) at least 7 days prior to transport date.

5.  Must have a fecal test done within one week of transport. No parasites can be present (round/hook/whip worms, Coccidia, Giardia, etc) at least 7 days prior to transport date. If being treated for parasites, all medication must be completed prior to transport.

6.  If going directly to the rescues approved adoptive home or to any New England state, must receive a HW test, if age appropriate. No dog will be permitted on transport less than 30 days post HW treatment. (http://www.heartwormsociety.org/UrgentAlert-8-9-11.pdf)

7.  Must not be harboring any communicable diseases, viruses or skin conditions (parvo, sarcoptic mange, etc.).

8.  Vet records must clearly state name/address/phone number of providing veterinarian and date services were provided.

9.  ALL PAPERWORK MUST BE CONSISTENT with the dog’s name and/or description so it’s clear to officials that it applies to the same dog.

10.  Choke chains and prong collars are forbidden.

11.  Must not be aggressive towards humans. If simply not socialized, (puppy mill survivors) please make this clear in the beginning so appropriate precautions can be taken.

12.  Dog-aggressive dogs:

a.    Will not be removed from crate during transport, so dog must weigh 30 lbs or less and crate must be provided.
b.    Cannot overnight, so transport must take place in 1 day’s time not more than 12 hours.
c.     Must travel alone.

13.  Crates are mandatory and must be provided for:

a.    No Paws on ground transports.
b.    Small/toy breeds that are traveling with larger dogs (for their safety).
c.    Dogs with anxiety or fear issues that are a higher than normal flight risk.

Sending Party:
1. Must provide one name as a contact person for the run.

2. Must drive/fill first leg of transport (shelters/boarders are the only exceptions).

2. Must review transport prep checklist to ensure all mandatory items are accounted for.

Receiving Party:
1. Must provide one name as a contact person for the run.

2. Must drive/fill final leg of transport (no door to door service).

3. Any expenses due the sending party must be paid in full prior to transport date.

4. Must provide leash/collar to sender if sender is not financially able to provide them.
